Today is day 13. They should have their eyes and ears open any time. As neonates, they are born with the eyes and ears sealed shut. They find Mum by heat sensor and smell. Swinging their heads back and forth, the hone in on her and wriggle over to her.
It is naptime at Treasure Isle. It is a moment when Mummy Misty gets out of the box for a few minutes, eats breakfast and gets a drink of water before going back in with her babes.
The Pirate Litter has arrived. They were whelped 2/19/19. Misty is an excellent Mom. She is taking very good care of her babies and they got a healthy dose of colostrum. Her milk is now and everyone is gaining weight nicely.
We are ready for whelping day. Today is day 64. Misty is in Stage 1 labor. We should have pups by 4:30 pm tomorrow. The ultrasound showed 4 maybe 5. My weight estimate says 4. We shall see.
Here is the ultrasound. You can see the ribs and the head. If you look close you can make out the little legs.
Puppies expected in February.
